You may be wondering, “What makes this record politically incorrect.” There could be a dozen reasons why, but one of them, is the very fact that I am saying Christmas. The title it pretty tongue and cheek, and many of the lyrics reflect a sort of weird celebration of consumer Christmas, but at the heart of it all, trying to break away from that selfishness.
Over the past few years, I have really been torn apart at Christmas time. We have this mass consumer mindset being pushed into our minds like a disease. But we have the celebration of the birth of Jesus on the other end. How do we manage both, to show our affection to our friends and family (often times through giving gifts) and attempt to worship God at the same time?
That is what this short Christmas record is about. It has been in the making for about 3 years. The whole recording process has been pretty experimental, as well as the writing process. You’ll notice some electronically created drum loops and synths, banjo, ukulele, and tons of other instruments.
In the end, I hope you can escape for a moment from the mind numbing monotony of Christmas consumerism, and focus on the amazing gift that we all know is right in front of us. I hope you have a very, Merry, Politically Incorrect Christmas.
