Bio
Andrew Webb
Andrew Webb doesn't shy away from depth, despite his choice of what
has too often become a clichéd format. Webb is a singer-songwriter who
stays true to the form of that genre while drawing inspiration from a
diverse field of fellow artists. Perhaps this is what makes his music
so appealing--his constant striving for creativity in an arena that is
so often over-run by the same artists pursuing the same
verse-chorus-verse-bridge formula. Webb writes "from the hip"--his
lyrics are direct and plain, rarely exploring the more abstract, this
despite his overwhelming concern with the problems and perplexities of
Christian spirituality. And yet, despite this (or perhaps because of
it) the truth of his well-chosen words search out the heart of the
listener and urges her to action. And there is no doubt that Webb's
music has centered, and will most likely continue to center, on the
sayings and acts of Jesus. Often these four minute folk tunes are
simple retellings of the teachings and actions of Christ, albeit
approached from a decidedly existential angle. For Webb, it is not
enough to simply hear the stories of Jesus; to comment on these would
be almost counter-productive. Webb enters into the stories, exploring
them from various character's perspectives. Consequently, the listener
is invited to do the same. What results is a confrontation with the man
Christ himself and the listener is assured: he will not leave the same
as he came.
